The Liberty will now face five new opponents spanning the southeast
Greenville, SC (February 13, 2024) – After two years of competition within the USL W League’s South Atlantic Division, the Greenville Liberty will be moving to the South Central Division. The USL W League division realignment comes ahead of its third season and marks the first major change since the league’s inception in 2022.
The South Central Division is comprised of six other clubs across Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and the Carolinas. Asheville City will be Greenville’s only returning opponent from its 2023 schedule and North Carolina club the team will play this season. Outside of the Blues, the Greenville Liberty will face Chattanooga Red Wolves SC, Athens United, Southern Soccer Academy, Tennessee SC, and Birmingham Legion FC.
A top competitor and 2022 Champion in the South Atlantic Division, Greenville have new competition. The Tennessee Soccer Club is the reigning South Central Champion located just a few miles outside of Nashville. The club registered 35 Division I players on its 2023 roster and an 8-3-2 record falling short in the Southern Conference semifinal.
Moving out of the division, the Liberty will not face the 2022 South Central finalist, Tormenta FC. The South Georgia side will join SC United FC in the South Atlantic division.
