U.S. Soccer Operations Manager & former Paladin joins the Liberty
(May 2, 2023) Greenville, SC- Today, the Greenville Liberty Soccer Club announced the signing of Molly Dwyer, pending league and federation approval. The well-decorated midfielder will bring experience from Furman University, the WPSL, and NWSL to the Liberty roster this season.
Dwyer will return to Greenville after she spent her college career at Furman University. In her four years with the Paladins, she appeared in 76 matches for 4,088 minutes of playing time. She tallied 28 career goals, including ten match-winners and 13 assists. Her collegiate accolades include All-Southern Conference First Team, All-Freshman Team, All-Southern Conference Second Team, Preseason All-Southern Conference First Team, 2018 Team MVP, and leading scorer in 2016 and 2017. The midfielder also helped send Furman to the 2015 SoCon Tournament Championship and 2017 SoCon Regular Season Championship. Following Dwyer’s graduation, she moved to England and attended Northumbria University in pursuit of a Master of Business Administration in Marketing and Management. There, she competed with the women’s soccer team and aided in the teams League and National University Championship with an impressive 18 goals, which won her Team MVP for the 2018 season. While in England, she trained with Sunderland A. F. C. Ladies before returning stateside.
Dwyer is already familiar with the pre-professional women’s soccer landscape as an inaugural member of the Asheville City Soccer Club WPSL team, now in the USL W League. In 2018 she led the club to a 10-1 season record and Club of the Year honor. She garnered the Carolina Conference Offensive Player of the Year award in 2018 and 2021, and was selected for All-Conference team in 2018, 2019, and 2021. Prior to Asheville, she was a member of the Knoxville Force from 2015-2017, where she played a part in securing the 2015 Conference and Regional Championship. Dwyer was also a trialist for Racing Louisville in the National Women’s Soccer League in 2021.
The Knoxville, TN native also brings knowledge from off the pitch, as the Director of Player Experience and Soccer Operations for the NWSL’s NC Courage in 2022, as Director of Soccer Operations for the University of Portland in 2021, and was an assistant coach for several seasons with the women’s soccer program at UNC Asheville. She currently holds the Operations Manager position with the U.S. Soccer Federation for President Cindy Parlow Cone.
Molly will join the roster alongside recent Liberty signees Marcella Helena Alves and Giulia Rodrigues. The club will begin its journey to secure the division title and bring the coveted USL W League trophy home with a home matchup versus FC Carolinas on Friday, May 12th at 7:00 PM.
