Local players set to take the field with Greenville
Greenville, SC (May 18, 2023) – The Greenville Liberty Soccer Club has added two more players to its roster as the club continues its second season. Grace Baghdady was an inaugural member of the Liberty in 2022 and Lily Meisten will join for her first campaign this season.
Baghdady has already picked up stats with the Liberty this season, appearing in the lineup for the May 12th Home Opener and on May 16th versus NC Fusion. The midfielder has a total of 422 minutes with the Liberty and ten appearances, including both playoff matches in 2022. Last season, she also secured a Goal of the Week nomination in week four and Goal of the Month nomination for May for the game-winner against NC Fusion.
She returns to Greenville to play with former Furman teammates Cameron Whitacre and Riley Parsons. From 2018-2021 at the school, the Spartanburg local recorded three goals and two assists in 65 matches. She earned a Southern Conference All-Freshman selection and SoCon Academic Honor Roll in 2018.
Meisten is also an Upstate native that has made waves at another South Carolina university. A sophomore at Winthrop University, she has manned the backline in 28 matches for 2,532 minutes. In 2021, she led the team in minutes played with 1,361 and started all 15 matches she appeared at center back. Prior to her move to Rock Hill, she was a Four-year starter at J.L. Mann and led the team to two State Championships in 2018 and 2019. She was named to the 5A All-State Team and selected to play in the Clash of the Carolinas in 2021. Meisten was also named to the ECNL National Mid-Atlantic Regional in 2019 with CESA.
Women will take the pitch this season with former teammates from across the Upstate. The Liberty will travel for its next two matches on May 19th and May 24th, but then return to Paladin Stadium May 30th for their third home game. Tickets are on sale now!
