The South Carolina graduate bolsters Greenville’s depth at goalkeeper
Greenville, SC (May 23, 2023) – The Greenville Liberty Soccer Club has announced the signing of Taylor Fox for the 2023 season. A goalkeeper from Titusville, Florida, Fox recently graduated from the University of South Carolina before joining the Liberty for the club’s sophomore campaign. She will be eligible for selection for tomorrow’s road match against the Charlotte Independence.
Across three collegiate seasons at South Carolina, Fox has recorded 604 minutes, 15 saves and two clean sheets in 10 appearances. Six of those appearances came during the COVID-shortened 2020 campaign, including two in that year’s NCAA Tournament, where she became the first Gamecock goalkeeper since 2011 to earn a shutout in her postseason debut. While she has played 64 total competitive minutes in 2021 and 2022, she was a member of a South Carolina team that earned one SEC Tournament title and three NCAA Tournament bids during her collegiate career.
Before college, she was called up to the United States U16 and U18 Youth National Teams and named an ECNL Southeast Conference National Selection candidate with the West Florida Flames. She was also named Defensive Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player at Titusville High School, where she played two varsity seasons.
Fox will be taking the pitch with one of her future South Carolina teammates, Autumn Cayelli, who committed to play for the Gamecocks starting this fall. The Greenville Liberty will continue its pursuit of the USL W League Trophy on Wednesday, May 24th when it faces off against Charlotte Independence at 6:00 PM in American Legion Memorial Stadium. Greenville will return home on May 30th for a rematch against Wake FC at 7:30 PM. To purchase tickets, click here.
